Berkeley County was established in 1772 and it is located in the eastern panhandle region of the state. With a population of approximately 104,169 the county has a total area of 321 square miles, and the county seat is Martinsburg. Berkeley County is the second-most populous of West Virginia's 55 counties, behind Kanawha.
